Toronto Blue Jays Earn World Series Matchup With defending champion Dodgers
Springer previously helped the Astros claiming the championship in the 2017 season.
The Toronto Blue Jays earned a spot in their initial World Series following 1993 by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the seventh seventh game of the AL Championship Series.
Trailing 3-1, the star outfielder hit a three-run blast in the seventh inning, leading the only Canadian franchise in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 series victory in the seven-game series. Next up are the Dodgers, holders of the defending champions, in the upcoming championship.
"It's incredible for everyone here, the city, Canada," Springer stated, an integral part of the Astros team that secured the 2017 World Series. "This is such an incredible feeling."
The veteran has now hit twenty-three October home runs, placing him third all-time behind Manny Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).
"There's probably not another player on planet Earth that I'd prefer in that situation other than him with his October magic," said manager John Schneider.
Seattle, despite leading the series two games to none and three games to two, are still the sole team never to appear in a Fall Classic.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson said "there's no question that it's going to sting" after his side's defeat at their home ballpark, but applauded their efforts throughout the year.
"They're an exceptional squad. It's a shame that we had to come out on the unsuccessful side of this game," he remarked.
The Blue Jays won the World Series on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and 1993, and will welcome the Los Angeles in game one on this Friday.
