This winter transfer window proves to be a time of intense rumour and possible major moves. Several prominent footballers are being connected to moves out of their present clubs. Here is a look at a selection of the key figures who might be on the move in January.

A. Semenyo

Although Ghana's inability to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, which has left the forward in contention, it appears an important transfer is close. The Bournemouth attacker has a contract with a substantial buy-out clause applicable for a brief window at the start of the month. Recent reports point to the Premier League champions look to have won the race for his signature. Former interested parties like Tottenham and Chelsea reportedly have moved on to other targets, leaving teams like Manchester United or Liverpool to make a late move.

M. Guéhi

The England centre-back has continued to impress for Crystal Palace despite a summer move to Liverpool collapsing. As his contract due to expire in the summer, January is the club's final opportunity to obtain a transfer fee for their captain. A host of top sides, such as City and multiple European giants including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, are believed to hold an interest. However, a January exit remains difficult, particularly given the coach's reliance on the defender.

Brennan Johnson

This Welsh winger has found starting opportunities limited at Spurs this term. Despite finishing as the club's leading goalscorer the previous campaign, he has started only a handful of Premier League games. Reports suggest the North London club is willing to consider a transfer for the correct valuation, believed to be in the region of £40 million. The Cherries are currently leading the chase, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace also credited with an inquiry.

R. Neves

The Portuguese midfielder might be poised for a comeback to the English top flight after a period in Saudi Arabia. Aston Villa were initially mentioned as a possible destination, but that move now appears unlikely. Instead, clubs from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are reportedly expressing interest in the keeper.

The prolific English striker has continued scoring frequently in the Middle East. Coming back to the Premier League could boost his dwindling chances of making the England squad. The Turin club are eager to tie down the 20-year-old to a lengthy agreement but face a battle to keep one of the continent's brightest young talents.

K. Smit

This highly-touted Dutch teenage midfielder has drawn comparisons to Kevin De Bruyne for his style of play. Following impressing at the Under-19 European Championship, he has broken into the AZ first team. This 19-year-old is widely tipped to make a big-money move this month. Newcastle are believed to be leading the chase, but could face strong rivalry from the Spanish champions for a signing valued at approximately £22 million.
