Los Angeles Explodes in Celebration as Dodgers Claim Back-to-Back World Series Victory
The City of Angels witnessed citywide celebrations after the Dodgers clinched a nail-biting seven-match World Series championship. Fans worldwide joined Angelenos in celebration, marking the first time in 25 years that a franchise has achieved consecutive championships.
Victory Parade Draws Enormous Turnout
Los Angeles area celebrations featured a downtown parade on the morning of the parade, a ticketed rally at Dodger Stadium, and spontaneous parties throughout the city.
Online footage depict thousands of Los Angeles residents packing downtown streets, many carrying handmade banners and team flags. The team was seen traveling proudly on a open-top bus through the masses, hoisting the Commissioner’s trophy proudly.
“I’m already thinking about the next championship we’re going to achieve this,” Shohei Ohtani remarked through an interpreter.
The parade route ended at Dodger Stadium, where the team walked out to the rapper’s “Not Like Us,” with DJ Mustard providing music and the artist cruising a light blue vintage Cadillac around the stadium’s outfield.
Pre-Parade Festivities and Player Reactions
Festivities began well before the procession, with supporters setting off flares in the roads of the city center on Sunday night.
The World Series MVP, named the World Series’ Most Valuable Player, spoke plainly about the victory.
“We refuse to lose,” he said. “I love the Dodgers. I love Los Angeles.”
Varied Responses and City Unity
However, Mark Walter was met with a cooler reception at the celebration. Recordings from the event seem to depict Walter taking the stage to a combination of applause and boos, with jeers interrupting his speech.
The World Series served as a positive moment in what has been a trying year for Los Angeles. An approximate 225,000 people attended to the championship parade last year, and according to team member one athlete, fans this year demonstrated as much if not more enthusiasm.
“I feel like it’s nearly twice from last year,” he remarked. “The supporters are incredible. It’s truly amazing to be a part of this.”
