American entertainer Pat Finn, who featured in iconic television series like Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed at 60 years old.
The comedy and improvisation performer passed away at his residence in Los Angeles on Monday following treatment for cancer since 2022, according to reports.
"Pat Finn considered no one a stranger - just potential friends he hadn't encountered," his family shared in a message.
They added that he had "lived his life fully - with joy and exuberance".
A Notable Television Career
Finn's first television role was on a show starring George Wendt in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the brother of the main character.
He subsequently landed a recurring role on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.
He starred as a party host named Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, portraying a host famous for delegating burdensome jobs to his guests.
Throughout the 90s and 2000s, he had guest spots on a variety of popular shows, such as:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House, M.D.
Finn was perhaps best known for portraying Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight seasons of the show from 2011 to 2018.
His work in movies are It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
Off-Screen Life
Away from his television work, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was involved with a six-person improv troupe known as "Beer Shark Mice".
"Pat taught, supported, and inspired countless students over the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who has anything negative to say about him," his loved ones expressed.
Paying homage, fellow actor Richard Kind remarked there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Always positive, helping you be funnier and better. A wonderful father and man," Kind wrote online.
Finn is leaves behind his wife Donna, three children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
