A Pig's Tale: Pig Named Six Seven Pardoned by Miami Dade County Leader.

Although not quite at the equivalent scale as sparing holiday birds, but the county's top official experienced a presidential-style act this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. She deserves this act of mercy. Her criminal record is spotless,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with clear references to the extraordinary and sizable number of executive clemencies issued from the start of the commencement of a second term in office.

“Unless you count eating half a dozen apples per day,” the mayor added. “Let this swine have a long and happy life away from worry.”

The event, which both honors and questions the local cultural practice of consuming swine during the holidays, was established to mirror the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.

The animal, provided by a first responder, was named for the modern linguistic fad of young people yelling “6-7” – inspired by a musical verse – often for no discernable reason. The craze became so ubiquitous that a major dictionary recently declared “six-seven” its top term for the year.

A Future Secured

The pardoned swine is now destined to live out its days at a rural sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the event’s official press release.

“The annual pig pardon has become a beloved tradition to begin the festive period,” said the cafe owner, in a decidedly positive message.

“It captures the spirit of Miami: joyful, varied, and based in heritage that bring people together. Every time, we are proud to celebrate culture and compassion in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Participants enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach fritters and Cuban coffee as they toasted the pig's pardon.
